Configure Hosted Exchange on IOS (iPhone, iPad)

Configuring your IOS based device for use with Hosted Exchange is extremely easy. Before starting, it may be wise to remove any old email accounts set up on the phone which are being replaced by Microsoft Exchange. You can do this by:

  1. From the devices home screen tap Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars

  2. Locate and tap on the account you wish to remove from the device from the list accounts displayed.

  3. Scroll down to the very bottom to locate a “Delete Account” option.

When you’re ready to configure the new account, follow the remaining steps below:

  1. From the devices home screen tap Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account

  2. When selecting an account type to add ensure you select Microsoft Exchange

  3. On the Exchange screen enter:
Email: <enter your email address here e.g. [email protected]>
Domain: If this field is displayed, leave it blank.
Username: <enter your email address here e.g. [email protected]>
Password: <enter the password for your email account>
Description: Enter an account description, the default will be your email address.

  4. Tap Next in the upper right corner of the screen. Your device will now attempt to locate your Exchange server using Microsoft’s Auto discovery service.
If the server cannot be located you may need to enter this manually, in which case please contact us. Additionally another reason this may also appear is if either the email address or password you entered in the previous step is incorrect.

  5. Select which type(s) of data you would like to synchronise: Mail, Contacts, and Calendars and any other preferences you may have.
Note: By default, only 3 days’ worth of email is synchronised to the device. This can be changed under Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account, and tap on Mail days to sync.

  6. Tap Save to complete.

If you are prompted along the way to accept any security policies, please do so. This security policy allows you to remotely wipe your phone should it be lost or stolen to protect your data.

The primary cause of issues configuring Hosted Exchange accounts on IOS based devices is an error in either the email address, username or password. Without correct credentials the Microsoft Auto Discovery service will be unable to locate all your settings for you. It is strongly recommended you double or even triple check this prior to contacting us for support.
